Conferences are a significant part of an academic career. They not only support wider economic growth, but help deliver knowledge exchange and attract inward investment. Helping academia to deliver on Scotland’s National Innovation Strategy.
Multi-sector collaboration is key, and this is where the Exchange Initiative can support you.
Drawing knowledge and expertise from the city’s four universities, NHS Lothian, and the team at the EICC, the goals of the Exchange Initiative are to:
- Raise the profile of Edinburgh's key sectors.
- Create lasting positive impacts for the city in the fields of health, wellbeing and sustainability.
- Act as a platform to assess and support the gathering of data and information on the impact of academic work beyond the academic environment.

Exchange Initiative Fellowship
Conferences provide valuable opportunities for professional development, networking, and exposure to the latest trends in research. At the EICC, in exchange for a reduced package price, we encourage our clients to create a legacy during their conference by providing funded places to local early career researchers, within their fields of expertise.
For more ideas on how to create an impact with your event visit the EICC's Impact Network.
Professor Gary Hutchison highlights the successes of the EICC's Exchange Initiative, including the launch of the Fellowship Scheme.
