  • Shanghai Culture Week – Opening Orchestral Concert

    Shanghai Culture Week opens with a concert featuring three of the city's top orchestras: Shanghai Young Philharmonic Orchestra, Shanghai City Symphony Orchestra and Shanghai City Young Symphony Orchestra, performing Eastern and Western classical music, including Grieg, Handel, Bizet and Tianhua. In 2008, the SCSO initiated the Angel Friends Salon Children Autism Caring Program together with the Shanghai Charity Foundation helping children with autism escape isolation by learning music together. Graduates from that scheme now feature in its ensemble. The concert will be led by one of China's most distinguished conductors, Cao Peng.

  • Shanghai Culture Week – Young Designer Exhibition

    Enjoy a rare glimpse into Chinese contemporary design with this exhibition featuring the best new work by graduates of Shanghai's most innovative art and design schools, curated by the Shanghai Promotion Center for City of Design. In February 2010, Shanghai successfully joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network and was awarded city of design status. The centre was set up in 2013 as a not-for-profit social organisation, providing services for the promotion of the creative design industries in Shanghai and the development of Shanghai as a city of design.
