Chinese Arts & Cultural Festival
Edinburgh's first ever Chinese Arts & Cultural Festival featuring a world class traditional opera with mask changing and fire breathing tricks, authentic singers, modern dance, a spectacular troupe of young drummers and more all set alongside a 3 day interactive celebration of authentic Chinese arts and culture.
Chinese Conservatory Orchestra
The history of Chinese folk music is one of the longest unbroken musical lineages in the world, representing over three thousand years of tradition. In this Chinese folk music show, several traditional instruments will be played, such as Bangdi, Liuqin and Zheng. The show is unique because it introduces audience to all those instruments at the beginning with a piece called Instrumental Guide to the Chinese Traditional Orchestra, followed by another nine traditional Chinese pieces. Playing traditional folk music at such scale outside China is very unprecedented.

Edinburgh International Festival: The Encounter, Complicite
World Premiere. Twenty years ago Simon McBurney was given a book written by Romanian author Petru Popescu, which told the story of National Geographic photographer Loren McIntyre, who, in 1969, found himself lost among a remote Amazonian tribe; an encounter that changed his life. Taking McIntyre's journey as its compass and using binaural technology to build an intimate and shifting world of sound, Complicite's new production is a set of encounters with nature, with time, and with our own consciousness.
Edinburgh International Festival: 887, Ex Machina
European Premiere. Created by the legendary director, playwright and 'visual wizard' (New York Times) Robert Lepage,887is a riveting foray into the world of memory, exploring how personal recollections are reflected in collective consciousness. Lepage recalls his own experience growing up in Québec during the October Crisis of 1970, and considers on how, in an era of unlimited digital capture and storage, he must examine the validity and nature of his memories.
An Evening With Noel Fielding
The Mighty Boosh, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Luxury Comedy) is embarking on his first live tour in five years: An Evening With Noel Fielding.
Expect a magical mix of Noel's unique brand of stand up comedy, live animation, music and some of Fielding's best known TV characters (such as The Moon and Fantasy Man).
