Edinburgh International Conference Centre prides itself on being a truly award-winning venue. These awards are not just for show, although we have had to commission a new display cabinet over the years.

 

They are in fact simply the recognition for quality systems and procedures that we follow to ensure every event is an absolute success. Here are a selection of them:

EFQM Sustainability Good Practice Competition - Highly Commended 2011

EICC's Sustainable Events Programme, Plan-it Green, achieved the status of 'Highly Commended' at the European awards ceremony. This recognition is for embedding clear values and highest standards for organisational behaviour which enable us to strive for economic, social and ecological effectiveness.

Association of Event Organisers - Venue Sustainability Initiative of the Year Award

The EICC was recognised and awarded as a venue which has produced more events that have made great efforts to reduce their carbon activity. The EICC was assessed on how it has taken significant steps to making events greener through the use of suppliers selected and policies implemented.

The EICC Green Team demonstrates holistic application of sustainability principles and practices that is driving real change in the way the business impacts on our planet, people and profit.

The team engages stakeholders in a collaborative approach to deliver sustainable events and help the EICC, its suppliers and clients to achieve their sustainability goals.

Green Tourism Business Scheme Gold Star Awards UK & Ireland - Highly Commended 

The GTBS awards companies that have demonstrated the highest levels of green ambassadorship, innovation and cost savings. The EICC was 'Highly Commended' for Plan-it Green, meaning that EICC is in the top 2% of the greenest businesses in the UK & Ireland.

CIS Excellence Award - The Sustainable Business Award Finalist, 2011

CIS Excellence Award in Sustainable Business seeks to identify organisations which have excelled in neutralising or reducing the negative impact on the natural environment.

Green Tourism Business Scheme - Gold Award (Version IV), 2008 - 2010

This award is for environmental achievement and a tool for sustainable tourism. To achieve a gold award, organisations must meet 60 of the scheme’s sustainability criteria.

Overall Highest Score Award across Hospitality Industry.

European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) - Award Winner and Prize Winner, 2003

We won two categories for this award - for the highest scoring SME in our group based on the EFQM business excellence model, and also for people development and involvement. Award winners are exceptional organisations - they are European or global role models in their approaches and the results they achieve.

ISO9001:2008 is the internationally recognised Quality Management Standard for all types of organisations. Its process provides a robust framework for improving every organisation’s quality system by adopting 8 quality management principles.  Reassessed to new standard in 2011.

ISO 14001 specifies a framework of control for an Environmental Management System against which an organization can be certified by a third party.  Reassessed to new standard in 2011.
